German prospect Benjamin Schroder will play next fall at Oklahoma, he announced Wednesday on ESPN.

A 6-foot-7 forward, Schroder said he had opportunities to play professionally in Germany and Spain but that his target always was playing college basketball in the United States.

"I want to be the best basketball player I can become, while having as much fun as possible," he told ESPN. "The U.S. plays a different style of basketball and will give me a chance to work with the best coaches, facilities and physical programs in the world. I also love the States and hope it will be a good personal experience beside basketball."

Schroder graduated from high school over the summer but won't enroll at Oklahoma until next summer. He will be playing in an Under-19 league in Europe until he begins his Sooners career in 2022.

"We talked to a lot of different schools, including some Ivy League programs and other schools from the ACC, Pac-12 and Big 12," Schroder told ESPN. "I had five other scholarship offers, but I am absolutely sure about Oklahoma and wanted to commit during the early signing period to put the focus on my game again."

He is the third commit in Oklahoma's 2022 class. New coach Porter Moser already has the commitments of four-star guards Otega Oweh of New Jersey and Milos Uzan of Nevada.
