DALIAN, China, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Cannavaro's Guangzhou Evergrande beat Henan Jianye 2-1 in the 12th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Monday.
Chinese naturalized player Ai Kesen, known as Elkeson in Brazil, put the Guangzhou side 1-0 ahead in the 14th minute with a penalty kick.
Former Barcelona midfielder Paulinho made it 2-0 for the defending champions in the 25th minute when another naturalized player Fei Nanduo, known as Fernandinho in Brazil, saw his shot parried by Henan goalkeeper Wu Yan, and the ball rebounded to the feet of Paulinho, who tapped it in.
Three minutes later, Olivio Da Rosa pulled one back for the Henan side.
Henan missed the chance to equalize in the 64th minute when Fernando Karanga's spot-kick was blocked by Guangzhou Evergrande goalkeeper Liu Dianzuo.
The Guangzhou side leads the table with 31 points with the win, while Henan Jianye languish at second from the bottom with six points.
