Disappointing sales figures fall on Black Friday

Customer traffic in US stores on Black Friday, following Thanksgiving, rose a bare 0.5 percent on the traditional start to the holiday shopping season.
While bargains pulled some shoppers into stores and onto gifting websites, many purchasers were unable to find the right deal.
Results issued by shopper survey firms said retail sales were definitely driven by shoppers on the Internet, who spent 35 percent more on Black Friday web purchases than a year earlier.
