Plane veers off Madrid runway, 45 killed

At least 45 people have been confirmed dead when an airplane veered off the runway Wednesday as it attempted to take off from the Madrid-Barajas airport, Spanish authorities reported.
As many as 44 people were reported injured out of the 164 people on board.
According to rescue services, the Spainair type MD-80 aircraft broke apart after it veered off the runway and burst into flames. The flight was destined for Gran Canaria.
